A leader you admire
A leader I amire is Ray Belanger who is a handicapped guy I work for. Ray suffers from some kind of cerbal palsy or something, I've never asked him what the condition is so I'm not sure what it's called. Basically he has a hard time walking talking and using his hands. Also his wife claire is in a wheel chair. So since he's moved into his house he's made the house 100% wheelchair accessable without any help. Now I occaisonally spend time getting paid for whatever work he needs me to do.
Craig's story (pg 1-11)
I think younger children should be made more aware of what's going on in the world. That way maybe more kids can be able to start organization's like Craig's and the world could be a better place.
the playing card activity
I had a seven and I was more or less ignored because almost everybody else had kings and aces. I think the game was supposed to show that status isn't usually given fairly to people. In this game it was decided by a shuffle and a draw.
the question game..states, hockey teams, colours etc
It took me a while to figure out what was happening in the game. I think it was to show us discrimination happens whether we know about it or not, because the team leaders never told us what our criteria for discrimination was.
the gender game
I thought it was a bad idea, I would of liked a little more "order" for debating a battle of the sexes. I found out it's more or less immpossible to figure out what the "better" sex was but it went from a debate to a shouting match which isn't right.
positive word poster
Our word was Courage and I Was NOT happy with our poster. Nobody in the group had much artistic talent to speak of and I don't like the idea of losing marks because of it. I took leadership class, not art class. If I had to do it again I would of done a background of some kind because I saw other posters with a background and I thought it was cool.
the girl in the photo (pp14-17) (photo at bottom of page)
I think the story tells us to live and let die. Like forgive and forget, Kim Phuc used to hate the war for what it did to her but even she was able to forgive what happened.
Read the Roseto Mystery and share..
I guess the moral of the story is just to do things together and do what makes us happy. Apparently if we don't, we'll die.
Leadership Quote
My quote was "I don't know the secret to success but the key to failure is trying to please everybody" - Bill Cosby
I wrote it on a T-shirt because just about everybody wears T-Shirts. Since T-Shirts aren't out of style they tend to please everybody in their own way, but you can't wear a T-Shirt in cold weather so you can't ALWAYS wear a T-shirt.
